Colleen Donovan

MANAGING PARTNER

Colleen Donovan has spent the last 15+ years meeting with business owners, Senior Directors of Human Resources, CEOs, and CFOs to advise and strategize with them regarding their company benefit plans. As the Managing Partner of Donovan Benefits Partners, Colleen is responsible for having a deep understanding of the ever changing needs of well informed, dedicated employers, as well as the particular requirements of their employee demographics. Additionally, she is committed to determining the client’s highest Human Resources objectives and hurdles. It is with this understanding that she is able to confidently recommend the best carriers, plan designs, and contribution planning to assist in meeting their goals and overcoming obstacles. She accomplishes these objectives through creative plan structures, enrollment management, employee communication, and data analysis that can impact change.

Colleen came to Florida after growing up in Maine and spending some time in Boston and San Diego. She graduated from Vermont College of Norwich University. Colleen has a background in Human Resources after working at Northeast Paging/UCOM and All Florida Orthopedics with a niche in benefit plan administration. Her work in HR has served her well ever since transitioning into the insurance industry in 2003.

Colleen has distinguished herself among her peers by qualifying for President’s Club (5 years), qualifying for Convention (7 years), being awarded the Founders Award for Management Excellence (13 times), being awarded the Million Dollar Club Award, and being featured in an article as one of three in the nation in Aflac Now’s magazine focused on “How to Reach Your Goals.”

Colleen resides in South Tampa and has always found giving back to the community a priority. She has actively supported The American Heart Association, Feeding Tampa Bay, The Committee for Academic Excellence, Florida Holocaust Museum, and the Aflac Cancer Center, among others.

Jaque Carter

BUSINESS MANAGER

Jaque Carter brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team as the Business Manager at Donovan Benefits Partners. After working as the Human Resources Coordinator/Recruiter for the top producing Aflac Region in Central Florida, she was promoted to their Central Florida State Office as the Asset Manager where she was responsible for the growth of a $28 million book of business; roughly 8,000 clients, until joining Donovan Benefits Partners in May of 2018.

With over 8 years of insurance industry-related experience, Jaque has developed a strong sense of devotion to assisting clients and employees. In addition, she’s able to apply her strong analytical background and mindset to assist clients with any topics related to analyzing data, audits, and assessments.

Jaque lives in the Tampa area with her husband Cody, their son and two dogs.  She enjoys spending time with her family and going to live concert events whenever possible.

Jason Terry

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Jason Terry has been providing benefits consulting since 2005. And while his industry expertise runs deep, it is his willingness to go the extra mile to make sure everyone is taken care of that is what clients often value most. Jason believes that listening is one of the greatest keys to partnership, and that getting 100% of potential business is far less important than giving 100% to the businesses he serves.

As the Director of Operations for Donovan Benefits Partners, and as a husband and father, Jason knows the importance of having a comprehensive benefits package in place. He also knows how rewarding it is to help guide others to do the same for their employees and their families.

Jason notably stands out in the industry through his accomplishments as the top District Sales Coordinator in annualized premium sales for 2015 - 2017 (Aflac, Florida Central); #12 in total sales out of 1,978 DSC’s nationally in 2017; sales growth of 310% over 5 years; Million Dollar Club.

Jason resides in North Tampa with his wife Leah and their three children and believes that giving back to the community should be a cornerstone of every business, which he does as an annual supporter of Feeding Tampa Bay and the American Heart Association.

Trey Nelson

BENEFITS COUNSELOR

Trey Nelson, as a Benefits Counselor with Donovan Benefit Partners, excels in industry knowledge and has a “consultative approach” when working in the field. He believes a customer who is provided thorough and complete customer service at time of need is what provides a truly positive experience for the employees. He has 20+ years in sales experience, including over 10 years in the insurance industry.

Trey started his insurance career with AFLAC as an independent agent in 2008. In his first quarter with AFLAC he was ranked #3 in Central Florida in number of new accounts opened and was promoted to a District Sales Coordinator position within 9 months. As a District Sales Coordinator, Trey built up a scratch (smaller) district developed behind a telemarketing team he created. After 2 years in management, he chose to move back into a field representative position where he feels his customer service approach is best suited.

Trey has consistently been a top producer in his 10+ years in insurance, but it has always been his customer service and attention to detail that has set him apart. Trey’s daily routine consists of  consulting with new hires, enrolling employees, answering questions, and handling claims. He has always approached account/policy holder servicing as an opportunity to distinguish Donovan Benefits from others. He feels a customer who is truly taken care of beyond the point of sale is what creates customer loyalty.

Trey lives in the West Tampa area, and enjoys spending his “downtime” working in his garden, reading books, and going to sporting events.
